Dr. Pankaj Jain chats with Sahana Singh on Bishnois and Indic Environmentalism

Dr Pankaj Jain is currently editor of the Hinduism section for the Encyclopedia of Indian Religions (Springer) and also writing a book on the history of Jains and Hindus in the Americas. His two published books are Science and Socio-Religious Revolution in India: Moving the Mountains (2017) and Dharma and Ecology of Hindu Communities: Sustenance and Sustainability (2011). He is Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas where he teaches courses on religions, cultures, ecologies, and films of India and Asia. In this video Dr. Jain speaks to Sahana Singh on the topic of Bishnois, their orgins, stories and history of dharmic environmentalism in the light of the recent court verdict against Salman Khan for killing a black buck. Incidentally it was the testimony of a member of the Bishnoi community which clinched the verdict against the Bollywood actor.
