Shivratri

The Glory of Mahadev in Mahabharat

While we see direct participation of Narayan in Mahabharata, we also witness the presence of Mahadeva throughout the proceedings that culminated in destroying adharma from the root level.

Shiva is in the form of Vishnu and Vishnu is in the form of Shiva. There is no difference between them and both provide Auspiciousness. Hence the Epic Mahabharata got Krishna as well as Shiva dictate the proceedings towards establishing dharma in Dwapar yug.

On Iswara

In essence, one who sees oneness that pervades everything  ‘ekatavamanupasyati’,  oneness that pervades all names and forms, oneness in Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu  – Lord says – tasyaahamnapranasyaamisa cha me napranasyati – he is never away from me nor I am from him.

Herath – MahaShivratri the Koshur Way

According to the Kashmiri lore, Herath commemorates the manifestation of the great Jwala Linga or the pillar of light, which appeared on triyodashi, a day before MahaShivratri day.  The story goes like this – Goddess Parvati along with the yoginis was meditating in the forest.  Meanwhile Lord Shiva, who was searching for his divine consort Shakti, appeared in the form of a Flaming Linga, at Pradosh Kaal or the dusk of the early night in the form of a Swacchand Bhairava – a fearsome form of Shiv.

कैलाश पर्वत पर आह्लादक कर देने वाली ऋतु थी। अनन्त प्रतीक्षा के प्रतीक नंदी महाराज पर्वत की कंदराओं में विचरण कर रहे थे तभी बड़े धमाके से उस प्रदेश में कुछ आ गिरा। शान्त रमणीय स्थल पर अचानक हुए इस कोलाहल से आश्चर्यचकित नन्दी महाराज (नंदिकेश्वर) वहां पहुंचे तो उन्होंने देखा कि एक बड़ा सा खेचरी यांत्रिक वाहन वहां पड़ा हुआ था और उसका चालक उसे वापस हवा में उड़ाने का निरर्थक प्रयास कर रहा था।
