Indic Academy Scholarship support for Kuppuswami Sastri Research Institute

Indic Academy is pleased to announce scholarship support to research scholars at The Kuppuswami Sastri Research Institute for courses, internships, workshops & seminars.

Kuppuswami Sastri Research Institute was founded in 1944 in memory of the great savant S. Kuppusvāmi Śāstrī who lived in 1880-1943. At the initial stage, the Institute was engaged in coordinating the activities of some of the institutions like the Oriental Research Institute under the University of Madras and the Madras Sanskrit Academy. The institution has been operating very creditably since 1945, contributing substantially through its core activities in “preserving” Sanskrit and related Indology research, in an all encompassing manner – establishing, institutionalizing, and propagating, consolidating and creating perpetuity of the great Sanskrit heritage.

KSRI operates out of the famous Sanskrit College Compound in the traditional Mylapore in Chennai and maintains an in-house library of some 60,000 books in its area of activities and a set of rare palm manuscripts; some 12,000 of the books in the library are considered old and rare. The institute plans to digitize its library and offer online access of this wealth of wisdom to the world.
