Sri Chakra Mahameru Peetham, located in Bilaspur, Chattisgarh is a prime seat of Mahameru and Sri Chakra worship. The pontiff of the Sri Chakra Mahameru Peetham, HH Sri Sri Satchidananda Tirtha Mahaswamigal is an Advaita Sannyasi belonging to the lineage of the Shankaracharya tradition.
Swamigal is performing the annual Chaturmasya Vratam at the Matham premises in Bilaspur from the 24th of July and will be performing Chaturmasya Vratam until September 20th
During the Chaturmasya Vratam, it is customary for the heads of Mathams to conduct various programs for the benefit of the public where the Chaturmasya Vratam is conducted.
This year, on the 6th,7th and 8th of August, the Matham conducted a Chaturmasya Veda Sammelan. This is a 3-day event that is conducted for the purpose of ensuring that Vedic pundits can gather in one place and perform a parayanam.
Scholars of all 4 Vedas from Madhyapradesh, Chattisgarh,W Bengal,Odisha attended this sammelanam and conducted Veda parayanam on all these days.
The Veda Sammelan was partially supported by the Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Parishad, an independent body functioning under the Union Ministry for Human Resources Development. Indic Academy has contributed to the event from the Indic Rennaisance Fund
The event was inaugurated on the 6th of August by Mahamahopadhyaya Mullaivasal Brahmasri. Krishnamurti Sastrigal, Retd Principal, Sanskrit College, Chennai. The Honorable Health Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr T.S Singhdev, the MLA of Bilaspur, Shri Shailesh Pandey, Prof Viroopaksha Jaddiphal, Secretary, MSRVVP, Dr Prafulla Kumar Mishra, Chancellor, Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University were among the dignitaries who graced the occasion.
As part of the Veda Sammelan event, the Matham also inaugurated a Hospital specializing in ocular treatment, called the Dhanvantri Hospital at Kirna, Raipur Road.
The valedictory event on the 8th of August was conducted by Prof Venugopalan Sankaran, Professor, Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Vishwa Vidyalaya.
